Black politics and feminism (Black History Month event)

Dr Emily Marshall (Centre for Culture and the Arts at Leeds Becket/Metropolitan University) in conjunction with Taking Soundings, has invited Dr Shirley Tate (Leeds Uni) and Dr Robin Bunce (Cambridge Uni) to lead discussions on black politics and feminism.

Dr Shirley Anne Tate will speak on ‘Michelle Obama’s arms: ‘race’, respectability, class privilege’.

Dr Robin Bunce will speak on ‘Darcus Howe and Black Power in  Britain, 1967-1975.’

That evening – Thursday 16 October – socialist comedian Mark Steel is also at Leeds City Varieties…
