Upcoming Actions – please support if possible:

Friday 10 October – TUSC (Trade Union and Socialist Coalition) protest in solidarity with the Care UK strike as it becomes the longest ever health strike in the UK on Friday. We’ll be at care UK Leeds office on York Road at 4pm (the Care UK officers are at Hepton Court just  off York Road on the left hand side immediately before you reach Harehills Lane).

Saturday 11 October – Leeds Against TTIP

The World Development Movement have organised a trail through town with assistance from Leeds Uni students and others. See and face book: Leeds against TTIP. They will be setting up a stall at different locations through town, linking each location with an area affected/ threatened by  the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership and making links with local history as they walk across Leeds centre.

12.15  Briggate  – disputes  ( then brief lunch break)

1.15 Leeds Town Hall – democracy

2pm Millennium Square and Civic Hall – democracy and workers’ rights

3.15 City Square , Mill Hill Chapel, and Trinity – dissent

Monday 13 October – NHS strike – up to half a million health workers’ will stop work for 4 hours – 7am to 11am. Please go down to have ‘breakfast’ in solidarity with the strikers on the picket lines at LGI and Jimmys.

But as important as it is to bring solidarity to the picket lines it’s crucial that we involve as many people as possible in raising money in work and at college for striking health workers . Download the collection sheet from

Wednesday 15th October: PCS members in government departments and agencies, including the DWP, on strike and taking action including pickets and lobbying of MPs – The PCS say that since 2010, taking into account pay cuts, the increase in monthly pension contributions and inflation, many civil servants have suffered a 20% cut in their incomes.

Saturday 18th October – National TUC demo under the banner “Britain Needs a Pay-Rise”.  Get your coach ticket from Leeds TUC (phone UNISON on 0113 2458442 or email ) – Coach leaves 7am from West Yorkshire Playhouse
