Protest exploitation at Sports Direct today

WEDNESDAY 9TH SEPTEMBER JOIN THE PROTEST OUTSIDE SPORTS DIRECT Leeds HEADROW 4.30 – 5.00 fight for fair pay and secure jobs for all workers‏

Called by Unite the Union

Sports Direct is now recognized as one of the worst employers in UK.  20,000 workers were  widely reported to have been on Zero Hours Contracts.  In response to criticism  –  Ed Miliband  “These Victorian practices have no place in the 21st Century”.  Sports Direct are now moving away from Zero Hours Contracts and replacing them with variable contracts, usually for very few hours.

Billionaire Mike Ashley, owner of Sports Direct, who the Sunday Times Rich List says is Britain’s 22nd-richest man with a £3.5bn fortune, hasn’t made it clear what type of contract he is on, or even his hourly rate.

The recent success at Pizza Express should encourage us all to continue with the fight, to get fair pay and secure jobs for all workers. This protest coincides with Sports Direct National AGM.

We will have flags, stickers, flyers etc.
